1. There is One True God
God is the creator of all things. The Bible reveals that God is a Spirit (John 4:24), and describes him as a single being consisting of three interrelated "persons" which are designated "Father," "Son," and "Holy Spirit" (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22). The three-fold aspect of God has come to be known as the "Trinity."
2. The Bible is God's Word to Humanity
The Bible--both the Old and New Testaments--is inspired by God and is the final authority for Christian belief and practice (1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:21).
3. Humanity is Separated From God
Humanity was created good and upright, and lived in harmony with God; however, by an act of free will the human race disobeyed God. This disobedience (sin) enabled evil to enter the world, and separated all people from God (Genesis 1:26-27; 2:17; 3:6; Romans 5:12-19).
4. God Has Provided a Way for Reconciliation
God became a man, Jesus, to pay the price for humanity's disobedience (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:1-10). Those who place their trust in him, are given a new spiritual life and are restored to a right relationship with God (see the box at the bottom of this page).
5. Jesus Christ is God
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The Bible bears witness to:
His pre-existence (Colossians 1:12-17))
His virgin birth (Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31, 35)
His sinless life (Hebrews 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22)
His miracles (Acts 2:22; 10:38)
His saving work on the cross (1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21)
His bodily resurrection from the dead (Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:39; 1 Corinthians 15:4)
His return to his heavenly kingdom (Acts 1:9, 11; 2:33; Philippians 2:9-11; Hebrews 1:3)
His future return to this earth to rule in power and peace (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17)
6. The Holy Spirit is God's Presence in the World
The Holy Spirit is the eternal Spirit of God. The Spirit indwells every believer in Christ in order to guide and teach them in the truth (John 14:16-18), and convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8-11). The Bible teaches that miracles and miraculous gifts (i.e. healing, prophecy, etc.) are characteristic of the Holy Spirit's work among his people, and will remain so until Jesus returns (Acts 2:16-36; 1 Corinthians 1:7-8; 1 Corinthians 12-14)
7. God's People Will Live With Him Forever
The resurrection from the dead to eternal life with God is the blessed hope of all believers (John 3:16; Romans 8:23; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Titus 2:13)
8. God Calls His People to Live in Harmony With One Another Today
Both the Old and New Testaments are emphatic in their call for God's people to pursue unity (Psalm 133:1, Hebrews 10:25). Jesus told his followers that the mark of a Christian should be the love they show toward one another (John 13:35). It is not always easy to get along, and disagreements are inevitable, but the Bible instructs God's people to "bear with one another and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another" (Colossians 3:13). This is of such importance, that it is sometimes better to be wronged than to destroy the unity of the church (1 Corinthians 6:7).
9. God Loves You
"Very rarely will anyone die for even a righteous person (though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die), but God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:7-8).
